Why Coi Nguon Museum is special ?

Different from other museums that were mostly established by the state, Coi Nguon Phu Quoc Museum was created by a young couple, Huynh Phuoc Hue and Nguyen Thi Phuong Dai. With the passion for preservation, the couple has been collecting all historical objects involved in Phu Quoc Island for 10 years and then exhibited them to the public. More than 500 items are largely presented here to tell the story of 300-year-history Island, Phu Quoc. Coming here, visitors can enjoy an invaluable collection of precious timbers or fossilized wood. Furthermore, they can explore the process of producing fish sauce in a Phu Quoc village. By this way, it retains this traditional craft for younger generations on the island.
Moreover, visitors will have a chance to view a set of 50 stone axes, and 300 documents in Vietnamese, English and French about the land and people of Phu Quoc. Over 100 folk and contemporary paintings about Phu Quoc are also displayed in the museum.

What to explore at Coi Nguon Museum?
There are 2,645 antiques made from stone, pottery, bronze and fossil wood dated from the 15th century to the early 20th century and 540 artifacts consisting of furniture, artworks and fishing tool and household appliances.
There are also around 100 traditional paintings.
Tourists can discover Phu Quoc’s natural conditions and an overview of the museum and battles to protect the island on the ground and first floors respectively. The second floor exhibits antique collections while the third floor displays the model of a wreck and numerous antique fish from sunken vessels discovered on the eastern side of the island. Images of local peoples’ daily life are on display at the fourth floor. The rooftop has a panoramic view of Duong Dong Town and a pearl blue sea and an immense forest.
If you are tired of walking, you can go to souvenir shops on the ground floor selling jewelry made from pearl, fossil wood and shells and craft products made from lua wood. Or you can climb the hill to see a very interesting place – a sea eagle reserve where you can admire numerous beautiful white and black birds standing inside a giant iron cage raising their strong voices or spreading their wide wings to fly around the cage.

Far from Phu Quoc Airport about 3 km and 10km from Ham Ninh fishing village. From the beach area about 15 minutes walking and 10 minutes drive to the administrative center of Phu Quoc, you will get see the Coi Nguon Museum .
